Brand new quarantine tank treating velvet.

Hello all i have setup a brand new quarantine take with water from my lfs. all i have in there is an airstone, heater and a few peices of pvc pipe. It is now day 5 and the fish look much better (pair of clowns and blue tang.) Now my issue is my ammonia is at 0.5 ppm per an api test. I just performed a 5 gallon water change considering there is only 15 gallons in the tank. What can i do to lower the ammonia? Thanks.

I am dosing with cupramine by the way.
