Well, plenty going right with the tank but a few setbacks.
#honestyinreefing I've been working crazy hours at work for the last 8 or 9 days so haven't paid much attention to the tank. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure all of the anthias are gone. Not sure how or why since I haven't had time to observe the tank.
I've had some minor coral issues because of too much flow. I removed a birdsnest before this maintenance outage at work since it was clogged with algae. Only the tips were alive. What I didn't realize is that it was blocking flow and protecting other corals. My blue polyped digitata has some areas where the flesh was blasted away, as well as some parts of a green slimer. I raised my gyres around 3" so both should be out of the direct path. Plenty of healthy coral left on both so I don't foresee losing either of them.
What I did wasn't nearly as heartbreaking as what happened to yours. I suspect it will only take a few weeks of new growth to get them both where they were. At worst I'll have to cut off the top 4" of the slimer and wait for it to grow tall again.I did that to an acro a few months ago, gutted for you.
Thanks! Extension tubes are a wonderful thing!Your macros are getting good!
