So you dose kalk as well? Is that a set amount daily or only off of your evaporation?
What’s your average PH?
I dose it via a pump, 1.4L per day. My pH swings between 8.1 and 8.3, maybe a bit higher.

Ok.. I made a mistake today when I changed my dosing rate. I changed my dosing rate from 288ml to 312ml this morning but I also switched from dosing 12 times a day to spreading it out over 24 additions a day.

And.. my KH director took its afternoon test. Alkalinity spiked from 9.6dkh to 13.1dkh. ;Wideyed ;NailbitingMy heart stopped. ;Dead I immediately shut off my dosing pumps but I'm at work and couldn't do much more than that. Around 2 hours after that test I had it take a manually initiated test. 9.1dkh.

I forgot that I have my sample line right near where my alk addition occurs. When I adjusted the time I had it drawing a sample as alk was being added. ;Facepalm Needless to say my dosing pumps are back on. ;Sorry

Fear is a great motivator. Here are some FTS's. The lighting color was already changing to blue but I tried to get it corrected.

I moved the sample line for the KH Director to the refugium so it won't be impacted by the Alk/Kalk adds. Hopefully that issue will be solved. The Alk climbed back up to 9.6dkh overnight thanks to the KH Director adjusting up additions. I suspect I'll be increasing dosing again in the next day or two but I'm letting the Director make the adjustments for now.

Do you have a filter tip on the end of the sample line?
I have the KHG and use a stihl chainsaw fuel filter (all plastic) on mine so it doesn’t collect any nasties
I do not, but that is a fantastic idea!

This is getting nuts. I have increased my dosing to 360ml of each 2 part. It may not be enough. If it wasn't for the fact my dosing containers are draining so quickly I'd think my calibrations are off. I just recalibrated them a month or so ago, and if anything the containers are draining faster than the calculated value so I may be dosing even more than this.

My monti caps have got to be using most of it, although I have a few staghorns and other acros that are beginning to grow very quickly. Instead of increasing my dosing further I may start cutting back corals instead. I could remove half of my orange and green monti's and it would hardly make a difference to how my tank looks.
