So this morning I was eyeing up my tank and saw what I have ID’d as a bristle worm slithering in and out of a hole in my rock work. How did I end up get this thing(s). Tanks been running about 9 months and doing well and been the same sand and rock work since day one. I researched and seems like most prefer them but dang that thing seems creepy to me

Their fine just don’t touch them. They adjust number wise depending on food available. Also if you have to move your rock around use gloves.
Yeh Im in the process of switching tanks and ordered more live rock for it so i dont hitchhike them into the new tank. I would like to place a few pieces in the sump since its currently a good running tank so from what i researched if I dip the rock in RO water a couple minutes they should fall out to the bottom of the bucket?

They’re great detritivores, I don’t understand why you want to get rid of them.

You'll never avoid getting them and the chances of getting something way worse on Caribbean live rock is wayyyy higher . I've started with with dry rock dipped every coral and still have hundreds of bristle worms. They are indeed good just creepy . As long as you dont look at your tank after the lights go out you'll be ok .. lol
