Suddenly my Hippo tang is looking to be in rough shape. Nothing added to my tank in at least 4-5 months. I think more like 6. I QTd all fish. I’m very confused why this would suddenly show up.

Being in Canada means almost no access to meds...

Is this Brook? Seems like it must be. How does Brooklynella spread?

I don’t add anything to my tank because I have very large puffers which physically cannot QT anymore. This is so discouraging.

Where would velvet suddenly come from? Literally nothing added to the tank in close to 6 months.
Pardon my Canadian ignorance, but if you have no access to meds, are you able to QT using copper? If not, Velvet could have laid dormant and was triggered by a stress event.

This likely is Cryptocaryon (ICH). It most likely has been in your display, but all the other fish have Strong enough immune systems to live with it. Copper itself will not help with skin.
Copper safe will be your best bet in a quarantine setting and you can give fish a freshwater dip for temporary relief

I can’t QT my puffers (10” and 14”) and I’m not willing to put them through copper anyways.

I can’t get copper anyways so not an option.

It’s not white spots. It’s more like skin peeling. I’ve never seen this before. Of course maybe I’m wrong though.

hi
in my opinion, as u say u have the fish for about 4 months and u didnt add anything to ur tank
it is more likely ich than anything else
i had 3 blue tangs and i had them for 5 to 6 month and suddenly a stressful situation made the ich break out i had 5 clown in my tank that time but only my tang died of ich it happened to my other tangs too

This is under its skin forming bumps in which the parasite has formed mucus around itself

Another reason why I got rid of my blue tang today. They are prone to ich.

Id say pull from display, and run cupramine like tonight or early morning if the fish is still alive
