Brought this small piece of wood back from the ocean, can I put it in my tank?

Hey All,

Came back from Mexico recently and I found this piece of wood near the ocean and I thought it would look cool in the tank (mixed reef). From what I read putting wood in a reef tank is a no go, but would a small piece like this really affect the chemistry that much?

Certain this is wood and not part of the skeleton of a gorgonian?

Honestly not 100 percent sure? It looks like wood to me, but you could be right as there was a ton of these everywhere around and they all looked the same

Either way it will just break down quickly unless you coat it. I wouldn't bother. Plenty of live things you can add to the tank that look similar only better.
