Brown Algae

My tank is 1.5 months old and I'm getting the dreaded brown algae from diatoms. I bought 3 turbos, 3 crabs and 2 sandsifter starfish from my lfs that they recommend. Thoughts on what I need to do to clear it up? I've done my 20% wc weekly so far and the cuc.

If you have a refugium/sump, you might want to try out some of our sea lettuce! It grows like crazy and will be able to starve out the diatoms and dinos fast.

@AlgaeBarn is that a specific use case for the sea lettuce, or is it just a general alternative to chaeto?

Most macros will compete with diatoms, but it seems like Ulva specifically produces a compound that will attach certain nuisance algaes and Dinoflagellate.

Thanks for the links! Guess I should make note to try some out when I cycle the next tank. As an aside, do you all ever stock any thing like Dragon's Breath or Hypnea Pannosa? Thinking about getting some nice "display" algae and keep hearing nothing but awesome things about you guys.

We are working on getting a few other strains perfected before we move onto dragons breathe and hypnea (it grows soooo slow). But we hope to release those late in the 2019.

You can try pristine by seachem it helped with my algae prob worth a shot
