I have access to cipro or chemiclean which do you guys recommend using for brown jelly disease? Noticed it this morning. Last night coral was doing well.

I will be treating the whole tank.

chemiclean worked for me. Ive only had it once and chemiclean was all I had available, so cannot compare to other treatments.

I still lost the head that had BJD because I wasn't quick enough, but it didnt infect any others in the tank.

Sadly lost the whole colony over night. dang this stuff spreads fast.

First dose of cipro is in the tank. Have taken the skimmer cup out and the carbon I was running. Let's hope it doesn't continue to spread...

Well after most of the day my green torch looks good but my gold one is still a bit recessed. Hopefully improvement will continue.

I think my other torch is a goner as well.

How did the rest of your euphilia do? I discovered some on a wall hammer colony and it was a goner. Now today, (4days later) it’s on my NY nicks torch which was 3 heads :( I have fragged off the 2 bad ones in hopes I can save the rest. Would you please share with me your outcome and how much treatment you used vs your water volume?

I used Ciprofloxacin at 0.125 mg / L. I dissolved a 500 mg pill in 50 ml of water, producing a 10 mg / ml solution which I then calculated out using 35gallon of water (My system volume) dose it every other day for 6 days (3 total doses). Take your skimmer cap off and then do a 25% water change and put your skimmer back in action after day 6.

As far as my euphyllia everything is going well again I ended up losing 2 torch colonies sadly. Here is a small YouTube video I made.

Ciprofloxacin is good to deals with BJD and syano bacteria, actually most of the anti-bacteria are all good for these types of infections. i will do some water changes with BT7 dose after treatment was done to boost the benifitial bacteria. good luck n happy reefing!

I'd follow this protocol:

Cipro worked well when I used an in tank treatment.

Dipping method I use I got from a friend on FB. Many have success with iodine and chemiclean mixed together also. Dip regimen as follows though.

***
BJD/ Tissue Recsn

Brown Jelly and tissue recession

•You will need 3 separate containers for mixing ingredients. Another 1 or 2 for rinsing the coral off when moving to next dip.

** Do Not Combine the ingredients**

1. Mix 2 cups of tank water with 1 capful of witch hazel, you can sub hydrogen peroxide if necessary. Swirl it around, and/or use something to gently blow off the “jelly”. Dip for 15 minutes

2. Mix 2 cups of tank water with 1/2 of a packet of furan 2. Swirl the coral in the dip, or use baster as done with the Witch Hazel for 15 minutes

3. Mix 2 cups of tank water with iodine until it looks like lightly colored iced tea. Swirl/baster for 15 minutes.

•I use Lugols Iodine with 2-2.5 drops from the included dropper.

4. Swirl the coral in another container with only tank water. Place the coral back into the tank in low light for a day or two.

••Again, do not mix any of the dip ingredients together in any of the containers.

••If needed, it will be fine to perform this on back to back days.

I didn’t not come up with the treatment regimen myself and I’m unsure of the original person(s) that did. However I have used it several times to save euphyllia with great success

No, I've never dealt with bjd. I do use H2O2 for dip and just saved an octospawn recently with it. But ADAM is a high end torch collector, if it's good for him, it's good for me.

What did you dose daily or just split that 10 ML into 3 different doses?

Dose every other day 3 doses total 6 days total.

You will need to calculate how much to dose each dose based on your tank water volume.

0.125mg cipro per liter per dose.
Trying to figure it out on 300G. I think it’s 9.3 ml every other day.

Depends how much water you dissolve the Cipro in.

300g is 1,135.6L x .125mg per liter per dose = 142mg.

If you do the 500mg pill into 50ml of water you have 10mg/ml. So you would need 14.2ml per dose.

? Not sure I understand what you are saying. 1 500mg into 50ml of water. Then dose 14.2ml 3 times over 6 days. If you don't have 500mg tablets use 2 250mg tablets into 50ml of RODI water.

One dose will give you 142mg into your 1135.6 liter tank for the recommended .125mg/L dosage.

Blackout? I don't see any mention of a blackout.

It degrades in light. In light it breaks down basically. Ok I’ll do 14.3 ML EOD. I don’t know how to do it but want to do it to protect myself.
