I’m curious, did any of you ever get a browned out frag that you thought you could try revive, expecting dull-ish colours but wound up with some vibrant colours?
I unfortunately don’t have any that I didn’t know what colour they’d go but do have some I had that browned out but I’ve revived over the past couple months.

That’s the best part for me, I would take a dozen brownouts frags over a couple colored up nubs any day.

I’d love to find some healthy browned out frags to do this but unfortunately it’s hard to find any Acros over here that aren’t from main LFSs and instead most LFSs have LPS and Softies.

Not too much here locally either, the good old days of boxes and boxes of coral coming in are gone. Was spoiled for a while then almost quit the hobby when Indo shut down and prices skyrocketed. Hopefully stores will bring in more SPS

This part of the hobby is definitely my favorite. A lot of my favorite pieces that I’ve collected were originally brown frags that I grew into spectacular pieces.
Some of my finds over the years resulted in my two favorite pieces from my personal collection.

CRT Rainbow Explosion/ Hung’s Rainbow
Still looking to replace my colony that I lost in my crash. This picture is original piece that I grew out way way way back in the last decade lol.

CRT Delight
I’ve had this strain for over a decade as well. It’s drop dead gorgeous grown out as a colony.

Over my years of collecting I kinda developed a sixth sense when selecting among the brown sticks. It’s fun to predict what browned out pieces will look like in the future. You’re definitely in for a journey though sometimes it will take years before you see any glimpse of potential but don’t give up. It’s what makes the hobby fun :)
