Got my new biocube 16 set up yesterday with fresh live rock and sand from the LFS. Finished aquascaping, and noticed some tentacles coming out of one of the rocks. Looks like a Bubble tip anemone.
Ok, cool. Bonus, right?
Well, tank hasn't cycled yet. My ammonia is at or near 0 this morning and the anemone looks plenty happy.
So.... When I add stuff to the tank for the bacteria to eat and spike my ammonia, is the Anemone going to melt?

I believe you have a BTA.
Cool. Goodie for you!

When you say live rock and sand from the LFS do you mean live rock from an existing display tank? Or from a vat where they keep and cure live rock?

Is sand from one of their tanks or is it live sand that comes in a bag?

Awesome news! I was a bit worried it could be majano lol.

The sand was the precultured bagged stuff. Caribsea.

Rock came out of display tanks in store. Glad to hear that's real coralline too. Always good to have!

How much live rock did you get?
The bag live sand is helpful but the live rock is what will save your BTA.
The more the better.

If you only have 1 small piece of live rock, it may not be enough.

Full tank shot please?

3 decent sized chunks. Id say about 12lbs. I know... Rule is ~1 lb/gal. Would like to get a nice branch to top it off.
Also got the new biocube skimmer in there. Works really well.
And the inTank basket. Should I put my chemipure elite bag in there? Was just running floss at first startup.

You can add the bottle bac. It won't hurt and might help.
Don't run the skimmer just yet. Let the bacteria develop first for about 48 hours.

Yes. They told me it wasn't the man-made painted stuff, but I think they lied. Lol
Doesnt matter though at this point. Its my first salty and a nano at that. I'll probably crash it before too long!

I thought the skimmer just removed protein particulate... I already added microbacter XML last night.
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 10-20... These color cards suck.
