Hey folks! I'm starting back up after a 3 year long hiatus from saltwater. My last go around, I had a standard 20 gallon tall with a bunch of equipment either hanging off the back or in the tank itself. I wanted something cleaner in appearance this time around so I opted for the IM fusion nuvo 20 as I live in an apartment and dont have the space for something larger. I was eyeing the lagoon 25 however it would have blocked a few inches of the tv from the far left seat. Today, my tank, stand, sicce 1.0, cobalt neotherm 75w and IM mini max reactor arrived. My eshopps nano skimmer arrives on Friday. I plan on getting an AI Prime HD, mount, mp10qd, autoaqua smart ato micro 120p, IM aquagadget 5 gallon hydrofill reservoir, tunze care magnet nano, rock, sand, red sea blue bucket salt, red sea marine care test kit and ro/di replacement filters at the end of the month with hopes to begin my cycle. Anyway, on to the good stuff!

As you can see, my helper was tired at the end of it. His name is Forest and he has mild CH, but that doesnt slow him down one bit!

Thanks for looking! I'll be sure to update this post regularly!

Upon closer inspection, it looks like amazon sent me the midsize reactor instead of the desktop. They charged me the same price as the desktop, but im wondering if it will be a problem and if I should return it for the proper one. Thoughts?

Good luck with the build!

For the reactor, do you plan on running carbon? Bio pellets?

I would say the smaller one might hold the correct amount of media easier but oversized usually is good if you can fit it.

I recently started a 25, and it was incredibly tough to decide between it and the 20.

I was planning on running 4 tbsp of rox carbon and mix in 2 tbsp of GFO if I needed the phosphate control. Think biopellets might be the way to go? From what I've read, the eshopps nano skimmer is a great skimmer and would work well for biopellets

I’m still on the hunt for my skimmer, just running chemipure blue, floss, carbon for the minute.

I would suggest to consider getting some of the marinepure gems as well for biological filtration.

I will definitely look into those as well!

If they send you the wrong one before returning it contact amazon support and tell them. Sometimes they let you keep it and send you another one for free.

Ok! I'll give Amazon a call and see what they say!

Following along.

I have a similar setup. Filter sock on left side with Marine Pure ball in the next chamber. Media rack on the right with floss and Chemipure Blue. Second chamber has chaeto using the IM chaeto light. IM is coming out with a new skimmer to replace the Ghost Skimmer so I may have to re-evaluate.

I started leak testing the tank today and am running the equipment I have on hand as a functions check. The sicce 1.0 and mini max reactor are dead silent. The loudest part is the eshopps nano skimmer, but that was expected. It's not aboxious, but its noticeable and will quiet down when it's running in saltwater and breaks in. Everything is pretty level, however I may shim the front a hair because of my OCD. I'll post a picture, let me know what you folks think as far as safety and stability goes.

I went to my LFS today and picked up some rock and sand. Total weight I brought home was 17lbs but I didnt use it all. I'll be putting in a piece of LR too once I begin to cycle in addition to some marine pure gems/balls. This was the aquascape that I've come up with. Still needs glued together. What's everyone's thoughts on it?

I also got some dr Tim's bottled bacteria and ammonium chloride and 25 gallons of ro water. My plan is to begin my cycle tonight and pick up the ato, light and mount sometime next week. Stay tuned!
