Hello

Tank has been running for 69 days.

90 gallon DT w/ 70 pounds rock.
20 gallon long sump with 10-15 pounds of rock, rubble and shells.

skimmerless.

7 fish-
2 clowns (more on them in a minute)
1 TB Blenny
1 C Rubeus wrasse
1 H Chrysus wrasse
2 Neon Gobies

7-10 snails (mix)
7- Hermits (mix)
6 Peppermint shrimp
7 tiny white clams from the beach

All fish eating like pigs.
All inverts thriving and even spawning in some cases.

Clowns will occasionally get a gulp of air from the surface but usually only when lights are off…

my return is extremely oxygenated with zillions of bubbles and foam at all time. The fuge next door, not so much, layer of stagnant bubbles before they get sent to the DT…

Should I drop an air stone near the return? Should I put a HOB in the fuge?

I have a few theories as to why this is happening but one of you smarties knows for sure. Any help very much appreciated.

Sorry for the self bumps, this will be the last one but I forgot to add a few relevant details.

2 cheap (but powerful) power heads and I have 1 return 3/4 in the water and 1 return 3/4 out of the water.

DT is covered 95% by the glass lids it came with. Wrasses, y’all. And my sump I have 85% covered with acrylic because my stand is open and I don’t want too much dog hair getting in there. Bull terrier, y’all.

I have a 55 gallon I’m going to upgrade my sump/ fuge with ready to go but haven’t

That looks like bubbles getting caught in a film on the surface. Water looks dirty.

EDIT: you’re probably right. My water is looking a bit dirty right now. I’ve been over feeding and haven’t done a WC in 3 weeks on a pretty new tank…

if I don’t feed tonight, by tomorrow afternoon my water will be laser clear.

maybe it’s just this simple to fix a mild D.O. issue? I did have a tiny royal gramma go missing a week after I added it and a 3”Solorensis wrasse got bullied and went missing pretty recently…

dang. I’ll do a WC tonight and cut way down on feeding. Maybe have them fast a bit…
