Just received two 120 bars from @Orphek!

My initial impressions are good. They have effective water protection with rubber seals at the end caps and cords.

It appears that they use a generous amount of thermal compound, which is also good.

The only criticism I have so far is that the glass covers do not slide out, they are attached via an adhesive. This means that you do not have access to any of the LEDs, to either change the lenses or remove a damaged one. I value user serviceability, and in this cause one would have remove the adhesive to get the glass off. It appears to be a 3m adhesive tape. Actually a pretty good option for keeping it water right and sealed while still serviceable. :)

Sadly, my power supplies and mounting hardware arrives tomorrow. But I will update (and perhaps make a thread) about the power usage, fixture temperature, and PAR output of my two bars .

@Orphek how is this supposed to be compatible with my ATI? I don’t understand. This hardware does not line up to the ATI.

Is this the right way to assemble it? No instructions.

Is this using one of those little ATI screws per side? With a washer?

I’ll just drill my fixture. No worries

Here’s how that looks. Not bad at all- I think it sits a bit lower than I would like. I will probably make a 3d printed bracket that will hold them more closely to the fixture.

It would look way better if the LED's sat flush with the T5 fixture.

Yeah I’m going to do that, print out custom brackets. I just want to find the angle I like first.

@dragon99 looking at the brackets they provide, you could definitely hack together an aluminum bracket that would sit flush. Ill print it anyway though, because the more excuses I get the better.

So I got my OR 60 Sky Blue and UV bars mounted to my ATI 4 bulb dimmable T5 fixture. Simple piece of flat aluminum, no drilling the ATI fixture at all. Hope this mounting idea helps someone else. Love the light bars so far.

When I upgraded my reef lights I was on the fence between Orphek and Radion's. I went with the Radion because it would network with my reeflink but I really wanted to try the Orphek because of the great things I have heard about their spectrum and even coverage. So, when it came time to upgrade my lights on my freshwater tank I contacted them. My previous lights were by Beamworks and just took up too much space. I told them what I wanted, what my par readings were, and the importance of even light and spectrum blend. They recommended 3 freshwater light bars with a 60 degree lens. I confirmed all my requests and went with exactly what they suggested. I was excited to have a killer lighting system to start moving toward a cleaner look. Check out the results. The first image is the old Beamworks and the second is the new Orphek's.

This is the Orphek below (same camera same settings). What do you think? Upgrade? Total and even coverage? I am just really disappointed. None of the things I asked for. Par readings from 50 to 160. Definitely not an upgrade.
Orphek.jpeg

I emailed the sales person James, some images as well as par readings of 160 in the bright yellow areas and 50 in the corners. I pointed out the lack of color mixing. I asked him if this is really what I should expect and what I needed to do to get the coverage I was promised. He told me that he didn't see a problem and that the carpet was going to look great when it grew in. I felt pretty much blown off. I wrote back with more detailed photos and explanations. No word yet. I am interested to see if this is really the best they can do. More so, if they are even willing to address the issue now that they have my money.

I did a 30% water change and added new carbon 12 hours before the photos just to be sure my water was looking clear. The rock is a black lava rock. Not a yellow fading to pink lava rock. I am not sure that I could agree with the word vivid in regard to the color of the discus and cardinal tetras under the Orphek. The left and right sides of the carpet are showing a little more of the green I had imagined. But the natural color of that plant can be debated since not many people have been to Cuba to see them. I would love to have my display look more like the one posted on your product page. I am not sure why it doesn't. I am not sure why there is such a large variance in my par readings from the walls to the center of the tank, and I do not prefer the vertical color bands showing up on the back wall of the tank.

I felt like the color blend was not really happening that well so I took the light and shined it at a white wall 36 inches away (the distance from where the light was supposed to be mounted on my tank to the floor of the tank). Here is a photo of what the color blending looks like

My ceiling is not high enough to accommodate the height needed to blend the colors. I projected it against the wall and it appears that I will need to be about 60 inches to see the colors merge. However the blue color at the ends stays strong in any condition. What other options do you have.
