How about the dimming option that is supposed to come out for the gen1? Thought it was supposed to be released a month or two ago?

Looking good, I hope these will come with dimming drivers and fully phone controllable. If so would be a real game changer :):)

Looks awesome! Now I need to choose between gen 1 or gen 2. Glad you are sticking with gen 1 as well this gives lots of options. My tank is ready for some or150’s!

I happen to be one of the first to receive a Gen 2 Blue Plus and love the additional pop and shimmer it gives my tank.

Are you testing the OR2 ?? Any pictures of the Bar ? Do you only have the one ? I’m waiting for the Reef daylight plus OR2 90 bar as I already have an Aquatic life T5HO with 3 x blu+ and 1 x purple+

How does this compare with the Gen 1 ?? Any PAR reading yet ? Also when will the OR2 90’s be available please ?? I’m busting to get them lol !!!

Lee
There is a spectrum graph for the gen 1 on the Orphek website. I know I’m dying for all the info and to buy the gen 2 lol. I’ve emailed Orphek and didn’t get too much info and was told they are still under development so fair enough. They said another couple of months for the or150. The LED’s are no longer customisable for the gen 2 but based on the graph that Orphek has just posted it has a mixed spectrum of UV, Blue and Cyan.. exactly what I was hoping for anyway!

Hi There,
I've been told we should be able to order the OR2 range towards the end of the month and they will be shipping early March time.

I also received an early Gen2
Apogee 200 readings not adjusted.
Gen 2 Blue Plus with 120 degree lenses
One 120cm/48" Bar 8" above surface
6" under surface ave about 280 PAR
8" under surface ave about 240 PAR
Anyone that has used a meter knows how much the readings jump around. At least the unit our club has does. So, above are my best estimate as the average intensity.
I was surprised by PAR with 120 degree.
Lenses can be changed by hobbiest.
The test model I have isn't the final spectrum, but close. I like it better than my Gen1 Sky Blue for spectrum.
Runs MUCH cooler, nicer, better packaging.
I'll try to get some more readings but just upgraded to a taller canopy over the weekend haven't mounted this bar permanently yet.

Nice one TexasTodd, nice PAR readings there from 1 Bar. Wonder what sort of PAR you would get from 2 reef daylight plus and 1 blue plus ?? That’s what I will be ordering as soon as I can

Any Pics

Nice! Is there any form of controllability or at least dimming?

I like the spectrum but a little more Cyan would be nicer than too purple/blue look.

Do you know if they are much more expensive?

I didn't test how wide the high PAR area was. The Gen1's I purchased are 90 degree lenses, so comparing to 120 degree on the Gen2 is different, although this still seemed to not spread too fast.
They are only working on dimming and also the longer length 150cm/60" but I don't think those will be released right when the first Gen2 are ready to ship.
No idea on costs.

Lee, I'll see if I can get some pics but I'm not that good at taking them.

Hi Ed, that's a better question for Orphek. There are some green diodes and they're changing the exact wavelength on that from what my test bar has. I'll check but I think mine has 530 and they're going to 500 or 510 on those. I'll look at some correspondence to see if I have exact layout of my test bar.

I'd say the look is a little brighter and a little more purple vs blue than the Gen 1 Sky Blue. What are your thoughts Joel?
