Super-slowly progressing detailed build thread. In addition to the INCREDIBLY beautiful tank, stand, plumbing & sump that come with every CADE aquarium, Reef Stock Denver 2022 resulted in the following complimentary equipment:

1x Sicce SDC-9.0 return pump
4x Vortech MP40QD circulation pumps
3x Kessil AP9X LED lights + mounting arms w/ [new to the market] extended brackets
1x GHL Profilux 4 Mega-Set 6E
2x GHL Doser 2.1 Slave pumps
1x GHL IOND + Doser 2.1 Slave Combo
1x NYOS Quantum 220 Skimmer
1x Red Sea Reefmat 1200 Roller Filter
1x 57 watt Aqua Ultraviolet UV Sterilizer
2x Finnex TH-800S Titanium Heaters
2x Simplicity 3x2.01L dosing containers
1x ClearView Pisces EXO three-section lid
1x Red Sea ReefWave 45 crossflow wave pump [added 17 Feb 23]
1x AquaFX Blue Fin Pro Light-Commercial 500GPD 7-stage RO/DI System w/booster pump [added 02 March 23]
1x Ozotech Poseidon 200 Ozone Generator [added Feb 24]

Incredibly excited to get this build underway. Shipping delays due to 'dock worker shortages' in Colorado Springs (of all places) have significantly delayed shipment of the tank/stand.

Shout out to Samantha @AlgaeBarn, Christopher @UnlimitedColorCorals and @SaltwaterAq for their help acquiring this soon-to-be dream build. Added benefit of attending Reef Stock Denver 2022 was meeting @revhtree, @mrsaltwatertank, and Jake from Reef Builders.com

T-Force shipping took 31 days to ship the tank 96 miles. Despite the condition of the pallet & crate exteriors, the contents were in good shape. Waiting until the flooring (stained/epoxied concrete) is finished to move everything inside this weekend.

Hi Rick,

Congrats on the new Cade! Just ordered a 1200S2 myself. Like you, I'm thinking about running a Red See ReefMat in the sump. Are you going to go for the "hanging" installation or free standing in the sump? I was kind of curious if you can get a clean fit and not have to do any sump modification to get the roller in there along with a skimmer!

Looking forward to watching your system progress!

Congratulations to you on your new CADE as well Scott! I’m planning to hang the ReefMat on the partition following the filter socks. Primary overflow will connect to the flex pipe that comes with the ReefMat and secondary will remain in place and utilize filter socks as/if necessary. When I receive the ReefMat, I’ll post some pictures of what I end up doing. Hoping this plan works!

Successfully moved the tank in place yesterday afternoon. It took 5 of us to do the move using 9” suction cups, furniture dollies and a heavy lift cart on loan from my LFS. I would have preferred to wait until the baseboard was reinstalled after the concrete work - but snow in the forecast today (Spring in the Rockies) accelerated the schedule.

Two of us moved the stand in place Friday night. It took close to 45 minutes to perfectly level it using the 8 adjustable feet (diagonals took the longest). Will recheck level after the tank has been in place for a few days.

Awesome! I think that is the best location for the Reef Mat, based upon my understanding of the Cade sump layout. Will be fun to work in, for sure! -Scott

Hi Scott - as anticipated - the ReefMat 1200 hangs perfectly on the first partition of the 2100 sump— leaving plenty of room to fully utilize the refugium removable partition. The skimmer section is wide open and not impacted whatsoever.

Awesome! I just ordered mine and look forward to installing it. The 1200 has a smaller sump than your 2100, but I did determine that it will fit and it'll be fun to see it in action. Looking forward to seeing your tank continue to evolve!

Nice. Does the ReefMat really need an extra 5.2" of clearance for the flexible inlet tube? That seems a little wide. I'm looking at the Cade peninsula 1800 and wondering if I can get it to fit if I take out the crash box wall and the sock holders. I could do as you did and just put it in the second compartment, but if I didn't have to, that would be great.

I don’t believe it needs the extra clearance - no. The inlet is actually near the bottom of the unit on either side. Motor and water level sensor mounts are also available on either side. I would anticipate it would easily fit in the first compartment either hanging on the side of the sump or standing on the included feet.

Glad to see things are moving a long. I just put mix 1200 together today. Still waiting for the Reef Mat to arrive. As an aside, for anyone who is contemplating purchasing one, the Cade assembles very easily and quickly. About the only "mod" I will make is replacing the flexible plastic pump return hose with silicon hose (for long term durability and safety), but that's about it. Good to go right out of the crate!

Slowly making progress. Control panel completed - never thought about how many outlets would be required to support this 7 foot tank. As the labels indicate - 15 of 16 are supporting equipment in the tank. The GHL PB6 further supports twin 800w heaters, return pump, skimmer and UV sterilizer for a total of 20 separate outlets.

Custom three-section ClearView Pisces EXO Lid is spectacular. Build quality is exceptional - can't recommend this product highly enough!
