Hi Reefers!

I am just about to pull the trigger on my new aquarium within a couple of weeks. This will be a significant upgrade from my old and scratched 2nd hand Red Sea Reefer 170 that i have now.

I am aiming for a well (..heavy!) stocked low nutrient mixed reef; predominantly LPS though as the missus likes the movement that it gives; I will however have some SPS corals in the upper part.

I will off course be doing a proper build tread once i get going but before i go ahead, I am looking for any final comments or advice on below equipment:

Let me know what you think :grinning-face-with-big-eyes:

Aquarium:
- Cade Classic Reef S-2 1200 (512 L / 135 gal)

Flow:
- Royal Exclusive Red Dragon 3 100W 2 x Reef Octopus VarioS 6

- 2 x Ecotech Vortech MP40

Filtration:
- Clarissa SK-3000 Gen 3 Filter Roller Red Sea ReefMat 1200

- Refugium is fed by the overflow from the filter roller

- Reef Octopus Regal 150-S protein skimmer
- 2 x Two Little Fishies fluidized reactors (Carbon + Spare) supplied by the manifold
- Evolution Aqua evo25S UV steriliser supplied by the manifold
- 6 KG Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Spheres

- Reef Factory KH Keeper Plus Neptune Trident
- Reef Factory Dosing Pump x 4 Neptune DOS x 2

Other than the Clarisea (I'd get the ReefMat 500 instead), you have a very nice shopping list! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
Oh, I wanted that one too- but I can not fit in the in the sump compartment where I want. Compromise was the Clarissa.. :)

Hey, Following along. I too am going with the Core 7 and Tropic Marin salt mix. Looking foreword to seeing your success.

Only one opinion and something that I have not experienced yet but have been told by wiser people...break up the heaters into smaller ones instead of relying on just one.

Yeah, should have done that- i did buy an additional 650w heater thought which sits in there as a backup :)

It’s all coming together nicely; now is just the waiting for the cycle to complete!

The Reef Factory KH Keeper Plus came today! Installation and calibration went smoothly although one of the dosing heads seems damaged which i will have to deal with

Just found my build thread again- and oh how things have changed since I made it! Update will follow soon, I promise:

That have changed- and what to look for:
- Reef Factory is OUT - Neptune Apex is IN
- Tank is fully stocked with fishies
- All controls have been moved up on the wall over and around the tank

What to come:
- Custom sump to take up the full cabinet space
- Automated water change station
- Frag tank plumbed in with the tank

Stay tuned! I'm working on some stuff! : :p

I have since replaced the 650w single heater with 2 x 650 watt connected to independent InkBird controllers! - Both controlled by the Apex now as well, seems to be the way to go!

The Clarisea have now been replaced by a Red Sea 1200 which will go in my new custom sump! Sump will take up the full cabinet making plenty room for a large refugium! Can't wait to show it off once it's all in! :star-struck:

Also, Just wanted to share the DIY work of the chaps at The Polyp Pros. Their 3D printing rocks, and their acrylic tanks are absolutely to die for! More to come on that one a bit later; it is wet- but not quite ready for showing off yet.

Just got my shades for the Radions up, completely changed the look of the tank.

Love it! Might have to check my spread and PAR before coral is going in by the end of the year!

Seemed like a nice day for a wee upgrade! A chap in Marketplace was selling these bad boys for an absolute bargain in mint condition! Thank you very much..

Full on Apex have been added as well- more on that later when the controls are mounted in place nicely over the tank!

So, it is finally happening!!!

A custom sump to facilitate not only the Red Sea Reefmat 1200- but a larger refugium as well has been ordered. It will be a glass sump which will take up the entire cabinet. New plumbing is in the works as well with reactors plumbed in as well as a big butt UV on the back wall behind the tank.

All the controls are going on the wall above- and some in the room behind for the water mixing station.

Cheers to the guys at ND Aquatics in the UK for making this happen!

Like the light blocker might look into something for mine now we’re you able to check Par on it
Those shades were a game changer for me! Made by a start-tup company here in the UK called The Polyp Pros. They have made an acrylic frag tank for me as well and they're top class!

Congrats on getting the apex!
It really is a game changer for me, and it opens up a whole new world of eBay shopping when working away like I do :face-with-tears-of-joy:

With experience, a fair bit of my equipment was revised during the initial build stage and has been updated in the original post.

Original equipment has been erased with a line through and replacements and additions highlighted in green.

Thanks to working away for a long time on a ship with good internet- and the joy of eBay, a lot of used Apex equipment and some other stuff is currently en-route to Glasgow for my next project; to get the controls up on the wall over and around the tank.

Note: I resent eBay for making this possible! It should be illegal!

Stay tuned! ;)
