I use coarse ARM media in my calcium reactor. DT Mg is always around 1600-1700 ppm. It's a mixed reef.

My next batch planning on switching to fine ARM media since it's mg is lower like 1050 ppm.... And dose liquid mg.

Good idea or best to keep coarse ? but coarse is high mg... Like 1400 ppm.

What's max mg that's good for mixed reef?

Pls lmk THX...

I have been buying substrate for over a decade, 40lbs at a time. Much finer so you have more surface area. Have had zero issues doing such.

I keep my MG high usually, around 1500, and I only dose. Ideally, Mag should be around 1380-1400, BUT, it being around 16-17 hundred is not an issue. Anything higher may be though.

Is it ok to mix arm coarse and regular 50% each? That way my mg will never shoot over 1500?

I'm getting both arm kinds almost free 1 gallon each, that's why!

Where are you getting those numbers from?

I hope you understand that ppm magnesium in solid media does not translate into that ppm in the water...

The calcium level in the media is close to 400,000 ppm. But that doesn't mean the tank level will be 400,000 ppm.
