So I have been calibrating my refractometer with my RODI water before I measure the tank. When I do this I line it up to the line off to the right side which it says to do. However, when I have notice that the light line is above the sg 1.0 and 0 ppt measurement. Is this normal? I just want to make sure I am getting the right reading for my tank.

You can buy a standard solution for calibrating refractometers. Mine is 35 ppt. I put it in and if the refractometer does not read 35 pt, I adjust it so it does. A bottle of the stuff will last quite some time.

I agree with above, I have always just used the calibration fluid that usually came with it to calibrate it. :)

Thanks, that is pretty much what I have been doing but the line off to the right always threw me off. I'll defiantly look into the calibration solution. Thank you for the info.
