Very common in carribean waters known as codiumThoughts?
My codium grows slightly different so there might be some variation but I also know flow plays a big part in codium structure whether it be dense or thin. Mine dose form holdfasts like yours but more often on sand than on rock. I think gravel was the best medium for it to attach.
+1. Some rarer species like Codium lucasii and Codium bursa even grow in blobs/balls.Codium. FWIW there’s a few varieties of it, you got one of the prettier ones, IMO. First time I found some on live rock I thought it was a sponge, got corrected by several folks on RC. Yours looks like Codium taylori or Codium vermilara vs @Eatfrenchfries who appears to have Codium intricatum. Growth forms have a lot of variety in them depending on conditions, so sometimes it’s hit and miss identifying them.
Codium bursa is one of those that makes you wonder how many times people threw it away thinking it was a dead sponge.+1. Some rarer species like Codium lucasii and Codium bursa even grow in blobs/balls.
