Having a stupid moment trying to understand how to read the syringe I used this much titrations

so how do I relay this to these numbers on the card?

Looks like .22 or .23. If so, it's very low.

I'd retest for sure.

The bottom seal lip on the rubber stopper is your mark.

Well that’s what’s left in the 1ml syringe so I assume you have to read the marks in reverses to calculate tritant used??? So almost using the entire syringe wouldn’t my mag be high?

I’m my understanding I’ve used over 0.7ml of the 1 ml syringe so how do I relate that to the card or am I completely reading the syringe wrong?;Hilarious

Yes, what's left in the tip and syringe, where the stopper stops is the reading. It's looks from the picture to be .22 or .23. That's well below the lowest value on the chart.

Seems wrong. Magnesium isn't normally consumed out of saltwater nearly as much as alkalinity or calcium. Assuming your salinity is correct or you stopped when the color change happened.

I'd retest.

Okay, your right. Was thinking of salifert mag kit. It's the amount of tritation fluid used, not what's left.

How much you used is the reading.

Sorry about that. It's one of the reasons I stopped using red Sea magnesium kits and went to salifert.

You read how much used. Looks like you used .78 ml which is 1560ppm. That's why I switched out the red Sea syringe for the Hanna syringe. The Hanna is reversed and shows amount used so you don't have to reverse the math. A tip from Ryan at BRS.

If I'm not mistaken, you measure how much titrant you used, and compare that number to the card? Otherwise I've been doing it wrong

No, your right. It's measured by how much you use. Not what's left. Salifert is so much easier for me.

It's a common error with Red Sea kits......the syringe, when full is 1 ml. When you are done with the titration, the amount you put into the vial IS NOT THE READING ON THE SYRINGE. You need to take that reading on the syringe and subtract it from 1. So if the syringe says 0.23, the amount you used is 1 - 0.23 = 0.78 mls......which equals 1560.
