Interesting.
Its from my algae scrubber. It's what started growing without seeding & although I've never used calurpa in the tank i did start it off with fresh live rock many years before adding the scrubber.

That is odd. Although somtimes I have to put stuff like that down or the miracle of life.
I bought macros that were promptly eaten by my crabs. Two years later it was sprouting behind my rocks.

Of course the algae that appears on the scrubber screen does so all by its self, & I've wondered how much this algae type varies from tank to tank (scrubbed tanks). I'm pretty sure the bro inlaw's scrubber produces the same algae. I'll have to ask Turbo that.

It's pretty interesting. They only appear where the conditions are just right. I have a red "dragons breath" of some sort that only appears on my sump baffle.

I know its near impossible to tell from a photo but I'm sure its not calurpa. I've seen that stuff on video & its a springy mass where as my algae is softer and floppy

and pulls apart quite easily.

I'd honestly have to see the growth patter and rooting. A flat pic is tough. Fwiw there are a LOT of different calurpas. Not saying that 100% it is.

I had very similar on my ATS. It lacked the leaves and grapes that caulerpa had.

It looks like a young sea lettuce to me. Look up ulva linza. If that's the case, good for you, feed it to your fish.
