Can anyone tell me what this is in my aquarium and could this be the reason for the disappearence of my sand sifting starfish.

Common bristle worm. In my opinion - harmless creature- great clean up crew.

lol.. like a billion of them.. those things are in every tank.. just never ever ever grab them with your fingers...
