Just a quick question is it ok to dilute the acid as I carn seem to get 0.1 here in the uk at a low cost, the company I purchased it from last time are not showing it on there site, but do have the 1.0M in stock.
if I’m right and I can dilute it I presume it would be 100mil of acid to 900mil of water to make 1litre?
thanks

Yes, the more accurate you can get the 100 and 1000ml, and the purer the water you use, the better.

Best would probably to measure out 100ml acid with a 100ml volumetric flask, pour into a 1000ml volumetric flask with some water already in it, and top up to the 1000ml marking

Volumetric flasks are expensive, but by the second time you dilute 1N instead of buying 0.1N,you should have saved more than that.

Just be very careful. You ALWAYS add acid to water, never the other way around. Adding water to acid can cause a violent reaction of bubbling and fumes.
Wear proper safety gear and add the acid to the water slowly.
Thanks

Why do you think you need to alter the mix? Is the 7.8 to high? Too low? Is the ph probe calibrated, are the pumps, is the tubing the correct length?

If you checked it against working original solution and it shows too low then you need less acid or more rodi

Weird though, how accurate was your scale

A quick and easy calibration weight is a clean, new coin. Any denomination will do. These are milled to a reference weight which you should be able to find Google. Not as good as a dedicated weight but a good substitute if you want a quick check.

And in the mean time, you could just keep adding 1ml rodi, mix it a bit, retest and repeat until the results match, maybe with bigger steps in the beginning depending how far off you are
