Im having a really bad hair algae bloom in my anemone tank and wanted to know if I could get a conch to help deal with it. I've had issues with my carpet anemone eating conchs in my other tank but this tank only has flower anemones. Would it be okay?

I really like my tiger conch but wouldn't say he was ever any help with hair algae,,, although I'd say the same about my pincushion urchin as well so who knows?

Not sure a conch is the best to rid a hair algae issue . I’d look more toward nutrient management and possibly tuxedo urchins and Mexican turbo snails .

Flower anemones won't kill mobile molluscs, or really any mobile thing that has a shell or exoskeleton and is larger than a copepod.

Tuxedo urchins may nibble a bit of coraline, but they won't decimate it. Probably a good thing, really, to help keep the tank's rock porous.

I have both conches and urchin in my anenome system with carpets. It has never been a problem for me.

I totally screwed myself here..

Went to to check the tank and carpet is eating my Halloween urchin...

I’ve got 2 conches in my little 30 gallon tank and they don’t seem to do anything to the hair algae. Best cuc I got for that was 2 emerald crabs

Would a long spine sea urchin work? I have one in another tank that I could move

Longspine urchins should eat hair algae, yes.

Carpet anemones will eat just about anything living. Somehow I'm not surprised they'll eat snails/urchins/probably rocks.

How big of a tank does the long spine urchin need? It's a 30g

Crabs will kill your conch. They are not used for hair algae. They stay mostly on the floor of the tank and eat macro algae.
