Rock on!! That's way smart! I was thinking through how best to do it without it being piecemeal... looks like that works just as well.
I have drivers for most everything controlled by C4 and was hoping that I could use that route through Neptune and APIs to control through C4. I'm betting your way is much more reliable and stable.
After 2 weeks of having the Apex, I wouldn't trust it at all. Unit going for sale.
The only reason I bought it was to run side by side comparisons to the controller we are building. The Apex has so many issues and problems, I will not be using the Apex as a baseline for our controller.
Could not be more disappointed.

OK, I took Reef2Reef members advise and calibrated the salinity probe with sump water only not the calibration fluid.
These are 2 screen shots of 12 hours. If it continues to run like this, I would concede and say the probe is accurate, as the salinity drop in 12 hours is directly related to the 2 degree temp drop over night. Now I will have to tweak the heater chiller ratio to tighten up temp swings. it was 70 degrees last night and got down to 29 degrees this am. My sump is in the garage ( Heated ) but still swings with ambient temps.
Big improvement here on the probe issue. Will keep sharing the graphs to hopefully help the thousands of people like me, that basically did not trust the apex salinity probe at all.
Hoping for this to be the new normal on my probe.

My salinity probe has been stable and somewhat reliable for a while now and today I wake up to this

IME it will always have the weird unexplainable dip or spike periodically. I would never trust it to do anything other than monitor. I don't even have it set an alarm off for salinity anymore.

This is mine, I did a diy version of the vivid setup. Re calibrated this morning dry and then with the pump running tank water (1.026) through the probe when it's looking for the 53ms fluid. Time will tell if it holds. The number is stabilized, just was running high.

Is your ATO continuous or does it kick on once a day? My old tank looked like that, but the Apex would only power the outlet for 1 minute every 12 hours, so two major dips for me at 11 a.m. and 11 p.m..
Not connected to Apex. Automatic with eye sensors. It fills as needed

My numbers have held up since recalibration. Normally I'm drifting at this point. The noticeable spikes are when the return is off for the auto feedings, 3x a day.

The photo with the probes just show the low tech setup I did. Silicone hose to the probe from a 80gph pump running at full tilt.

Is it possible that all the complaints ( especially mine ) with the Apex Salinity Probe, actually were user error in calibrating?

I'm beginning to think so. My probe is dead on and moving with temp swing only ( Which it should )
I wonder if we could get Neptune or BRS to respond to this "So Called Issue" with the probe and do a BRS investigates on the probe and the calibrating of the probe.
This is a challenge, I've never seen BRS afraid of a challenge before. :)

Mine has been accurate for 18 months with no cleaning. I got tired of the calibration with their fluid not working and calibrated to my tank which was calibrated to the Hannah electronic device.

I did move the wires around recently and the probe reading was way off. I moved the probe wire around and it went right back to correct.

I also got a bubble in it once during a water change. I loosened the probe holder and bounced it around in the hole and it went right back to perfect.
