Can I use natural sea water in my aquarium

I have a aunt who lives in Santa Cruz with a saltwater tank is she able to just get the water out of the ocean or what is the criteria to be able to get water out of the ocean?

Not sure if there any legal issues with this in California, but you would have to watch out for pollution in the water and microbial die-off if you are raising the temperature of the water to reef temperatures. Personally, I would mix my own saltwater and avoid the risk.

You can use nsw just have to be careful where you collect it from. Also check state laws to make sure it's legal. You still need rodi water to top off.
