So I read all of Randys DIY post for making magnesium but can't seem to find the items whens shopping or it doesnt seem cost effective verses buying it from BRS.

I have 550 gallons and MG levels of 1290 and want to bring it up to 1400

Can anyone send me a link of amazon or walmart of products that would work? I am thinking Mag flakes? Any suggestions would be helpful since there are alot of products and I just don't know how much weight or product I need.

sorry, I cannot help with the raw materials. I bought from BRS because I have a small tank and one order will last me a lifetime.

Have you read this?

Usp Epsom Sat are still appropriate for the sulfate part and are readily available. The magnesium chloride can be contained from BRS since the Dead Sea Works product may be hard to fine.

Thanks guys, I just ordered 7lbs of MG from BRS for $17 on black friday. From all the research i was doing i dont think the prices of these items are any cheaper when you buy it seperately like before Covid when things when a value of the dollar was like 5x better.

I am still trying to figure out where to get these Iron tablets that Randy recommendend but everytime i go to walmart or wegmans, i only find a different kind of iron. I swear everything is so much harder to come across now and way more expensive.

I am hesitant of using epson salt because I've not done a waterchange in almost 5 months and you mentioned sulfate or something can build up and lead to issues. I would probably be that one case something does happen. I just ordered it from BRS. I think 7 gallons of this product should get my levels up from 1280 to 1400. I feel my MG is probably lower than the salifert reading but a dead indicator is coraline algae is not growing as rapidly as it was before. Also i've only used instant ocean for the last 5 (200 gallon) boxes and i believe if i was using Fritz salt with much higher MG i would have been fine.

I truly dislike labeling. Fergon is Ferrous Gluconate, which imparts 39mg of elemenal iron per 324mg tablet. Ferrous Sulfate, on the other hand, is actually High Potency, where 325mg imparts 65mg of elemental iron.

.....Sorry. MAJOR Pet Peave......

I am dosing about 20ML of red sea color Iron product per week on 550 gallon. I used to dose 10ML per week on my 125 gallon system so I am sure I can use more iron.

Is there any good test kit to show me if I am in range or ICP is the only way?
Yes, that is the Walmart add for Fergon. Is that not what you wanted? An ordering link?

Is that not what you see clicking on it?
Yes that's what I wanted. Thank you

Unless you target very high iron levels, no kit is useful.
