I don't see any reason why not. In fact, I have custom made brackets I intend to use. And I think they might be better mounted to the wall than hung off the tank glass.

The only issue is, will mounting yours to the wall be too far away from the back of the tank (so the fixture is still far enough out over the tank?

I believe the tank is 4inches from the wall
