I am adding some Two Little Fishes live sand into my established tank. Call me paranoid but can the sand contain Cryptocaryon cyst? It does said sterilized but I am unsure about it.

Good question. Id like know as well. What diseases can be carried by inanimate objects? Which ones have to remain in saltwater in order to stay alive? Finally, what is the best method to terminally clean aquariums and all the accessories? You’d think bleach would take care of it. But even with that, Ive heard of ciliates or brine shrimp eggs remaining viable. No kidding. I do believe that about the brine shrimp for sure and I’ve had ciliates pop up randomly in new rotifer cultures. Suspicious.

I am going to say it is not very likely because even though it is wet, it has likely been bagged and sitting on shelves for more than 76 days.

So, you are essentially being sand from a "fallow" tank at that point.

if your nervous, you can keep it fallow for a month or two in your garage...unless you think there is a fish in the bag :)
