Well, I consider this good news. Less that I feel I have to do and less chance of messing up the wash if I felt obligated to try. I'm willing to wait for a break-in. I'm a patient man.

I just rinse the unit with di water and in it goes. Never found a need for more. The only time I use citric acid is when I purchase a used unit and need to clean it.

I have been running Tunze DC skimmers for close to 10 years now, 9410dc and 9430dc.
These have virtually no breakin period from my experience. Turn them on they skim.
Simple to adjust, anti overflow, and a removable cup with attatched neck.
No need to turn it off when feeding either. The foam will reduce when food is added and will go back where it was in a short time.

Very underrated skimmers, imo.

I dont think my redsea skimmer needed any breakin either.

What most need is for them to be put in to the proper depth of water, otherwise they don't work right.
