Hi everyone! So finally I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my Innovative Marine SR 80 to the Red Sea Reefer 750 XXL. So here is my build/upgrade thread.
My 80 has been running for 5 years, but I have wanted a larger tank for a while now. This time I decided to have my favorite LFS order the tank for me, do the set up and install, and move my current livestock to the new tank. Then they will move my old tank to their store and sell it for me. I know.... totally lazy....right.... LOL! Last time I did it all myself, but this time I opted for my LFS.
I have between 80-90 lbs of live rock in my old aquarium I will use, and i bought new Fiji pink live sand. So I will use mostly new sand. I also bought another 50-60 lbs of new live rock.
Equipment:
Lights:. I currently have 2 EchoTech XR15s on my 80, so I bought one more XR15 for a total of 3 on the new tank. If I feel the need to add a 4th one I will do that later.
Power heads:. I currently have a EchoTech MP40 on my current tank, so I bought a second MP40 for the new tank. So two MP40s on the new tank.
Pump:. VarioS-6 controllable DC pump
Skimmer:. Reef Octopus Classic 202-S 8
It comes with a moveable ATO section with a float a valve in the sump, but I will use my current ATO that is on my 80.
Here are some pictures of my current tank!
