Can't decide on skimmer

Hey so i'm very close to ordering my first reef tank only thing stopping me is I can not decide on what skimmer been looking at red sea skimmer 300 and magnus curve 5 for a red sea reefer 200
what would you guys pick and if you have other suggestions for a skimmer fire away

I kinda like the Curve. I have 2 but I dont know that I would pay retail for one. They can be a bit finicky.

Skimmers you listed are both good skimmers. I have a Curve5 and love it, but it did start out finicky.

Mine runs good, overflows, then nothing, then overflows.
I have 7 skimmers running, some days are good, some not so much

I suggest an aquamax coneS Q2 save yourself 40 bucks and they really do run great! I have the Q3 running on my tank and couldn't be happier!

I just purchased a Reef Octopus 300 sss, looks to be built very well, love the controllability with the pump control.

Personally I think it matters on what you are stocking in the tank, weather it is a heavy bio load or a light bio load. I myself plan for the heavy bio load.

I just got my Reefer 170 today and got the Red Sea RSK-300 with it, This thing is a thing of beauty, packaging was incredible, Sicce pump. Between the Colum cleaner/squeegee and the overflow cup drain with valve its going to save a ton of time cleaning it. Fit and finish are impeccable, plus you can set it up a multitude of different ways to suit your sump. I've had a ton of skimmers over the years starting with wooden air block driven ones over 30 years ago and I gotta say I'm super impressed with the RSK-300 Skimmer.

Take a look at the Tunze 9410. They are highly rated and designed to control themselves! Simple skimmers!

I really like my red sea skimmer except for how hard it is to get the cup off for cleaning.

Lee, I suggest Lifegard Silicone, just put a tiny!!!!! bit on the the Skimmer cup O-Ring or any O-Ring for that matter, it'll make it 10x easier to take on and off. Needless to say its completely aquarium safe.

Tunze 9410 dc if you want set and forget!.
I have one on my 120 and a standard on my 45.
I set my 120 up 16 months ago and have not had to adjust it since.
Easiest cup to take off and clean.
Work in the sump/tank, feed, clean cup and you never have to turn it off.
I have taken it out and throughly cleaned it 3 times since setup.
Put it back in, turned it on and it skims with no adjustment needed.
Get the dc version as for me its dead quiet.
Its easy to set to skim wer or dry.
Here is mine a few minutes ago.
I have its set to skim somewhere between wet and dry.
Does best in 6.5" of water.
