Following for ideas for my build! What do you mean by sealed the walls?

I used Kilz primer/sealer on all of the drywall for a layer of protection. I may still increase that protection after getting the hole finished, but haven't decided yet.

Ran the plans by a few people smarter than me with regard to structural engineering and got the OK for the 12” header. Finished opening up the wall on this side so I can measure everything out and get all the pieces cut before putting up the temporary wall and cutting this one out.

When you get a text at 8pm asking if it’s too late to bring the sump and overflow box by, you say heck no!!

Modular Marine blew me away again. I sent him a design in sketchup that I thought would work, but he improved on it by far! 60x24x16 with a full width Filter Roller box built for the sump! 7 bulkheads for all my drains (3 tanks draining in), all going through 2 giant bulkheads and elbows into the filter.

if you are looking to get a sump with build in roller filter, definitely contact Modular Marine! He’s got the plans saved now, so could easily modify them to your sizing needs. Just tell him Joe sent you!

That’s awesome! I definitely need to reach out. The Trigger Systems Platinum 39 is what I’m considering since it has built in roller filter. Is price even close to comparable? Yours is much bigger obviously at 60” long.

Definitely contact him. I guarantee you that it will be cheaper to go with Modular....I purchased the Bubble Magus roller filter separately for $200, but even with that expense my 60" sump came in under $1,000

[email protected] and tell them Joe sent you!

Definitely cheaper than the $1,100 for the Trigger System Platinum 39.

Thanks! I will definitely reach out to him! Am already planning to use the MM Overflow.

Somehow I did this all by myself today! Put up a temporary support wall, then cut out the existing frame and installed all of the header materials. Was a bear lifting that 3.5x12 by 8.5 feet header into place. Everything is solid now and I can work on drywall for this side now!

Drywall and mud done. Not my strong suit, but I’m not worried about aesthetics on the drywall on this side. Tomorrow a quick sand on any high spots and a full coat of Kilz on everything showing.

leaving the other side of the drywall until I get word the tank is ready, as I don’t want a bit hole into the construction zone from a main part of my house.

That looks really good thus far! Awesome plan! Is the frag tank supplied by dedicated return pump?
Thanks!
I will have 1 COR-20 feeding the display, and another COR-20 feeding the frag tank and external skimmer. I’m thinking the drain of the frag tank will first go through the 75g rock vat, then into the sump, making the 75g gravity fed instead of pump fed.

The majority of the stand is built, the rest is waiting on the aluminum that is currently supporting my display tank. The plan is to get the new tank up and running without the frag tank, then pull down the existing display to sell and recycle the aluminum to put under the new frag tank location. Going to be a bit of a juggling act, especially since I’m missing a few supports for the corner shelf that I would like to use for an external skimmer.

Busy day today!

Got word that the tank is done and will be at my LFS on a Friday! I then have to drill it before they deliver it since they are bringing it in the house. Delivery will be next week.

That news meant that I needed to get going on the stand. Today I did the following:

- installed a second GFCI outlet, so both outlets under the tank are now protected
- drilled the drain hole pass through a into the stand top
- plywood top installed and biscuit jointed together then sanded to ensure perfectly flat and level
- installed the light rack. It has pivot points so I can move the lights out of the way if needed
- put down a coat of Kilz on the stand to prep it for epoxy

have family over tomorrow, so won’t have anything new to report until the weekend!
