Great looking corals. Question, from the reflection it looks like you're using Chinese black box LED lights? How do you like them? Do you get good coral growth?

Yep using the viparspectras from Amazon. Been using them for 5 year or so and never had a problem. I'm sure there is better stuff out there but can't beat the cost and the get the job done.

Thanks for the information. I can't help but agree, everything looks great. What blue/white balance are you running out of curiosity?

I have it different on each tank.

Display = "whites" on 40% and the "blues" on 15%
Frag Tank = "white" on 10% and "blues" on 30%
Lagoon = both 100% as they are 3+' above the water and the mangroves are growing very well along with all the other corals

Random picture time!

QT for whatever I find in the ocean and smaller fish that can't take meds so they get observed in here.

Any new updates?

Nothing positive unfortunately:(. I pulled a sailfin out of QT too early and he happened to have velvet. I lost about 20 fish and now pretty much starting over. Added a 120 watt UV and a 40 watt UV to the system to help knock out what might be lingering. I have a new batch of fish in QT right now but they still have another 3 weeks. Standard frustrations that a lot of people go through.

Found a huge mantis shrimp in the tank today. He's living in the back of one of he main rocks. If I look around the side I can see him coming out. I showed my wife what a mantis looks like and her response was "oh yeah I saw that thing crawling on the sand last night all over the place".

So now I have a trap in place. Once I get the guy I'll setup a other tank for him. Has to be at least 4" if not bigger.

Pic is terrible but you can his head.

Well after using a 20 gallon long and a 40 breeder as quarantine tanks I realized I need something bigger. If I put too many fish in the 40 I would lose some due to aggression which only would only allow me to QT a few at a time. Same goes with the 20 long. Did some hunting and landed several of these fish systems so I can keep fish separated and quarantine many more at one time. I'm hoping I can fit my 40 breeder in the bottom as a sump but not sure just yet. If not the 20 long will have to suffice as sump.

Time for a little plumbing and get this system wet! Just after I take down the other QT tanks...
