This thread is deadicated to carpet anemones alone, with that being said there are great threads to help you consider what anemones would be best suited for you! And or if you are new to keeping these critters! This link should help you :)

Anemones dieing could be a lot of things. There a lot more sensitive than you think. Tbh there are not really any small anemones that allow to be hosted. Anemones can get massive under the right conditions. Especially carpets!
Sand dwelling anemones can include carpets, long tentacles and seabae anemones.

I have been a reef keeper for 13 years and have had everything from 5 gallon pico reefs to a 500 gallon mega reef. I had multiple long tentacles in the 500 but, of course, there was ample room and places to “root.” I am specifically looking for a sand dweller and hosted that would be happy in a 60 gallon cube. I will visit other threads. Sorry to rain on your “carpet” parade.

Seabae would be fine, your not raining on my parade... simply keeping the thread true to its content. If you’ve had experience with LTA why not try that? Or are you looking for a carpet? Only downside is carpets get huge and some eat fish.

I got this abnormal Porcelain Crab. One of his claw is white and the other claw is. I got this little guy for the last several years, and another reefer had him for quite a few years before that. His home is my bright blue Gigantea.

Any idea the lifespan of these crabs. I’ve had one for 5 years now, pretty much the same size. Haha

Would really like to find some nice, super colorful maxi minis to go with the one I already have. Can anyone suggest where to look? All I'm finding locally are really pale and kinda ugly. Picture is of my maxi mini that I got last September.

Hey guys! I’ve got a carpet question that I need clearing up.
Q: Is there such thing as a majestic carpet anemone or is there another name for it?
Isn’t it a gig?

There is a guy selling one on Craigslist for 125$
Is this a good deal? Here are the pics!

Quick question. Our local Petco has a blue carpet anemone that looks just like this one for $40. I really wanted to get it but I only have a 125 gallon, 6' tank. Wouldn't it outgrow my tank pretty quickly and is it true they'll eat your fish? (Google picture)

My petco sucks... it’s really for me about the experience level of the reefer not water volume I would say 75+ you should be good they do get large as long as you plan to keep it long term you can always get a bigger tank as it grows.

It would be fine in a 125. Moonlights and host clowns lower the risk of it eating fish. $40 seems awfully cheap for a blue Gig. I'd make sure of the species before buying. The Petco near me always has S helianthus labeled as Gigs.

ETA- if it's the one pictured, snag it but acclimate it to your lighting as that one is bleached. May need to Cipro as well.

They just had it labeled as a carpet nem and couldn't tell me the exact species when I asked. It's in Mountain Home Arkansas (for the member asking location). It does look just like the picture, very pale blue and about 9-10" across.
