I just got a CBB from a Reputable dealer who had QTed in Pazipro and copper. I drip aclimated it and placed it into a qt tank it’s now swimming at the surface and sticking its nose out of the surface. Tank has an airline/ stone in it. None of the other tank inhabited are doing the same or acting odd. I’ll upload pictures when I figure out how from my phone ‍♂️

When I originally placed it in the QT it was swimming normally in the tank and even ate some mysis shrimp. The two deeper in the tank are from the day I got it the 3 at the surface is yesterday and today.

That's called "piping" and it is a general sign of severe stress. Can you post your water quality values and a short video?

they're delicate fish that are prone to being easily stressed. i'd do my best to keep the lights off and hopefully it comes around.

Let me do the tests again and post them shortly. The ammonia alert in the tank is showing “safe”
Please test. You likely paid good money for this fish and I would not rely on a $7 badge that also works for freshwater to sustain a fish like this. Over water, how did you acclimate this fish and for how long ?

I did test listed above it’s 0. It was drip acclimation over about an 1hr-1.5 hr .

Did you verify bag water salinity with that of display tank?
Fish in shipped bags produce carbon dioxide and ammonia. The carbon dioxide lowers the pH of the water in the bag, That in turn makes the ammonia non-toxic to the fish. When you acclimate them, if not done just right, you drive off the carbon dioxide faster than you are diluting the ammonia. That raises the pH of the water in the bag, and that in turn, makes the residual ammonia very toxic to the fish.

Is

it worth doing a water change as well?
i wouldn't do a change unless i suspected an issue stemming from the water conditions. my main objective with a stressed fish is to give it an opportunity to calm. it's already dealing with different water conditions in a new tank, probably a slightly different temp and all the nuances of a different system. hope she pulls through for you!

I did not verify the ph in the shipping bag. I did a drip acclimation when water doubled I drained it down and waited for it to double again l per the shippers instructions.

I think the question he was getting at is the salinity. Some LFS keep their fish at relatively low salinity. If you quickly acclimate them - they can have stress. I tend (assuming your tests are correct) - to agree with you - that quirking changing things could be problematic. Assuming your other fish are 'fine'.

I think you should focus elsewhere for the source of stress than acclimation; fish don’t acclimate, settle in, start feeding and then stop eating and acting stressed as a result of the acclimation that took place 3 days prior. That would be like getting in a car crash and feeling ok and then developing a broken leg two days later - it just doesn’t happen.
What other fish are in with it?
The fish seems to have intact fins on day one, and now has nicks out of the posterior part of the dorsal fin.
