first shipment i was pretty sure was weather affected.

the chaeto just doesnt seem to be growing however i remove clumps of randon nuisance algae. (any help with id? its been a LONG time since i had a new build with nuisance algae). i am waiting for the chaeto to kick in before i ramp up the dt lighing enough for corals.

oh running reverse photoperiod.

Plants need fertiliser (nitrate/phosphate). Do you have a source of fertiliser such as fish?

Fish + feeding = nutrition for chaeto

Even macro won’t grow unless it gets fed. I’m making the assumption that your tank is cycled but has no livestock yet. Good luck

Looks like you have dinos out competing the chaeto and sea lettuce. Dino's thrive in low nutrient tanks.

I don want to discourage your aspirations, But it will get worse. I believe I had 4 0r 5 diferent algaes growing, Chaeto, grape, hair, lettuce and a red gelly that would pop up on occasion in the display. Running a chaeto fuge is a challenge all its own. I tore mine out after a year, and and happy to have one less headache to remedy.

I had cheato difficulties after about 2 years. I fixed it with more flow and varied light in the fuge. I have a constant light and a red light that comes on when the tank lights are off. I had a boom since, but it’s all about your tank. Try different photo periods. It’s a new build, they don’t settle for 6 months in my experience. I had blooms of hair and bubble at times. It isn’t always straightforward.
