So I recently purchased Gen 4's to replace my gen 1 Reefbreeders, but I am not sure what would be the best way to transition my tank to the new lights without getting my corals too upset. If anyone has any advice on how to make this transition as painless as possible, I'm all ears.

Also, does anyone know how to mimic, Ecotech's SPS AB+ via Apex WXM?

Not sure about the apex module question, but the best way to adapt your corals to the new light it to start out low and ramp up slowly over time. Or run some sort of acclimation program via the apex if its available.

If you can get your hands on a PAR meter, I would establish what you currently have and then set the new lights to start off at about 90% of this. Then ramp back up slowly. I just did this for my 150g when I doubled the number of pucks and added some supplemental white. So far, so good.

Good thing about ecotech radions...they have acclimation mode.[emoji6]

No acclimation mode if they are used on an apex. You can mimic sps ab+ with Green 24, Red 24, white 24, Blues and Uv 100. I use this but start low. I actually still haven’t got my uv to 100.
Also it is for 7 hours of sps ab+, I ramp up an hour and a half and down an hour and a half.

A $15 Liz meter works with the same method as a par meter.
Keep the same photperiod , just reduce intensity.

With an acclimation mode , one would still wonder what the intensity is.

Which would you recommend? I have considered a seneye but this would be way cheaper.

You should get a seney imo if you've laid down the scratch for high end lights.

But any lux meter on amazon for $15 that does 200,000 lux will work.

Another option on a reasonably priced PAR meter is the Apogee SQ-420. It's not the "full-spectrum" which is more accurate for LEDs, but if you are talking relative values (one LED to another or LED intensity settings) it's more than adequate. In fact, if I recall correctly, BRS testing between the full-spectrum and original did not yield a lot of difference - maybe on the order of 10-12%

The SQ line from Apogee is the "smart" version so you just connect it to your laptop. I picked mine up directly from Apogee for $195.

Made in the USA and outstanding quality and support!
