I have been working on getting my Nitrates down and in doing so I purchase a Tunze 3181 Macro Algae Reactor. I also purchased a clean cheato ball from algea barn. Now that I have been running it for a few months I am getting hair algae in the reactor itself. Any idea why and how I can deal with it? Should I get rid of the cheato and clean it out and start over with the reactor? Looking for advice.

Thanks

Thanks for trying Shaun I appreciate it. I am going to try and use CheatoGro and see if I can pick out the hair algae the best I can. I just thought if someone had gone through something like this before they would have some advice.

I have a pax bellum and have been surprised at how other algae doesn't grow in it. When I harvest Cheato I scrub the reactor and then replace clean Cheato and make sure that the Cheato it thinly spread from top to bottom. When it grows it just fills out the space. You can almost watch the Cheato grow in this thing. I don't really get any other algae, unlike my refugium that had everything growing in there.
