I think the sick part of your aquarium is knowing what some primo photography would really do for the pics.

The huge monti caps are set in beautifully against the other SPS and the entire thing is exactly what I think most noobs like me are shooting for. Congrats to you, sir.
Thank you for the kind words!
I just checked out your build thread and I’m following it to watch the progress. That’s going to be a nice setup.

Thank you.

From an aesthetic perspective, I do believe that the the two acropora just in front of the orange monti are too similar in color to the monti and replacing them with more contrasting specimens would be better, but man that is very nit picky and may not be accurate due to photography. Heck, nit picking is the only thing that can be done with something this well done.

Just a quick update: I’m still waiting on hanging my 3rd Hydra 26HD. I really wanted to use the EXT rails like I have been using but I needed 2 6” rails. These rails have been discontinued but I finally found a place that had 2 in stock. They are black and I needed silver to match the white hydras that I have. I went ahead and ordered them and I’ll just spray paint them when I get them.

Some exciting news is a Battlecorals Bonfire grow out contest starting soon and I got in it. I also took the opportunity to order my first BattleBox so I can’t wait to see what I get. It’s going to be a few weeks before shipping while Adam at Battlecorals let’s the new Bonfire frags heal.

I have no expectations of winning but it will be fun participating and it was a great excuse to place my first order from Battlecorals!
Good luck with the contest chief and great addition to the tank as well regarding rails & lights. Gotta work with what you could get lol

I absolutely agree about the left side of the tank needing more contrast. I’ve actually been contemplating removing the large monti cap and replacing it with more contrasting acros. I like the Monti cap a lot but caps take up so much real estate so quickly.

Well I decided I was ok with the EXT rails staying black. I got the new light hung tonight and it makes a noticeable difference!

I got a good deal on a used MP40 so I replaced the MP10 with a second MP40. I’ve always planned to upgrade the mp10 as the colonies got bigger to make sure I kept plenty of flow.

I also added a few small pieces of rock and did a little rearranging. I’m slowly cutting down the size of the red Monti cap and may eventually remove it all together. I also created some more space for my new Battle Coral frags that I’ll be receiving in a couple of weeks.

I received my Battlecorals order today! Everything arrived in great shape and these are good sized frags! I got some really cool pieces that I’m excited to grow out.

First up is the contest frag

I’ll give them a few days on the frag rack to acclimate to my system and then I’ll start working on finding them a permanent spot.

Awesome tank. I just ordered a 80g tank (rimmed) with the same dimensions to upgrade from my current 46g bowfront. I'll be lighting it with a pair of Hydra TwentySix's that I picked up today. I can't wait to get it wet! Your tank provides some awesome inspiration!
