Thanks.. we watch the you tube videos all the time together:..I’m really enjoying seeing her little mind work..
Welcome to R2R. Wow big tank. Great to involve kids in reefing responsibilities. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.
The one Im getting is 12.5 ft L, 40" tall and 5 ft deep.
Current tank is 8ft L X 33" tall X 4 ft deep
What are you doing for lighting?

Wow! So cool!! My kids are teens and love being involved. One of my girls in particular helps with everything from feeding to cleaning the skimmer (yuck). She’s thinking she want to own a seaweed farm someday. She really got the bug!!! I’m setting up a tiny 12 gallon fresh water tank for my bosses kindergartner. I made a calendar for her to follow so she marks off feeding, changing water and filters. I’m very excited and inspired by kids that love science!!! Have fun!
Great idea.. My daughter wants to be responsible for feeding ( supervised of course) I like the calendar idea.. Thanks... Thats a lot of learning in itself..

With a tank that size, you’ll want a low boy frag tank to work in..... (her tank) Super fun for kids because they’re at their level and you can fill it with shrimp and parasite eating fish as well as clean up crew that they can play with and not kill. She can get their hands wet all while helping aquaculture for your tank. Win-win!

1500+ gallons, what!
I would get her scuba lessons, lol.
If it was me, even with the internet, I would get her some books on coral reefs.
My daugher loved these and I have had them for almost 30 years.

Roughly 15" above waterline
That’s good to hear... especially in a deep(er) tank... I have been being discouraged from doing a deep reef tank because of lighting..Thanks!
I’m sure I will be asking many ore questions, especially with all of your experience!!
