Hey I love the canopy!!! I Just ordered a pair of LED lights for my tank and because of where I intend to place the tank, I am concerned about the glare of the lights from where I sit. What you made looks ideal for what I need for my own setup!!
That's super important. I hung the fixture and had my wife sit on the couch as I held up a piece of cardboard to find out low it needed to be from the bulbs.

Hey C, glad to see that you're still in the hobby. At the risk of making you jealous of the weather you left behind: we just got 15" of snow overnight

Everything is up and running and fish are back in.
I got the stand skinned mostly. I still need to line the inside lower part with reclaimed wood. also I need to do the reclaimed wood treatment behind the canopy that will hide the cables coming down from the lights.

At one point this room was a patio well before we owned this home. But because of that the floor is slightly sloped away from the rest of the house so I had to rip a piece of the trim board at an angle to hide that. I think it came out rather well.

Feeling pretty satisfied with the overall look. Taking a quick break from construction and then I will put up the wainscoting to hide the pipes on the wall and put a built-in unit to the left where the white armoire is now. I sort of scratched the whole reclaimed wood idea and am only going to do one built into the left we decided we wanted to keep the right side of the tank more open and I'm just going to place a chair there.

I've added some fish and am happy with everything. And everybody seems to be getting along!
I will be adding a UV sterilizer pretty quick here as I've always run one in the past and just like to have it there. The bubble Magus curve 5 maybe a touch small as I am emptying the collection cup every two days so I may upgrade to a larger skimmer in the future.

going through a pretty reasonable new tank syndrome including a ton of diatomes. Not adding any acros until that gets taken care of.

Got the wall that hides the plumbing to the shed done. We decided against built in benches on the sides. Didn't want any launching points for the cats. And there will only be one built in cabinet on the left where the white armoire is now but I won't tackle it for a while. We are thinking of using a premade deal from Ikea.
