Day #10 cycling. NH3 1 ppm nitrite 1 ppm nitrate 5 ppm. Using microbacter 7 and quikcycle dosed to 2 ppm NH3. Added a Brightwell Biobrick in sump. Added Tunze 3155 ATO. Lights off. Temp 82f.

Noticing a few small areas of brown starting to grow in the sand. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing the brown is just a normal part of the cycle. I'd love to see a full shot of the controller board. Looks fantastic so far!

Added Seneye monitor and Inkbird Heater Controller. Also added a touchscreen which was an old surface laptop I wasn't using.

NH3 getting close to zero but heading on Spring Break so will likely be adding fish when we get back.

Update:

Completed first water change, 15%. lights on 8 hours at 50%, skimmer up and running, pH 7.8, nitrates 5, salinity 1.024, still small bioload. Two clowns, 3 firefish, 1 linear blenny. No dosing, feeding once a day. Missing anything? Add clean up crew now before algae etc start to grow? Add more bioload? I think still early for tangs?

Nice! I moved my Yellow Tang to my 110 2 weeks ago - this was after the tank was running for almost 2 weeks. it sounds early but I had a headstart cycling the rocks for almost 11 weeks. He's been doing great.

Your tank turned out fantastic! Makes me so excited for mine to arrive. Thank you again for pointing out my MP10 issue.

I'm also using Microbacter 7 (started cycling yesterday in a nano to get my hands wet with the fundamentals) and sprinkling in fish food twice a day (morning and night). Do you think this is fine technique or would you recommend getting a different ammonia source? I've read mixed things about dosing pure ammonia so initially opted for the fish food. Thanks in advance!

Update my build:

Filled up the tank with RO DI and leak tested.

Added return pump Current USA Efflux 1900 gph.

Added (1) Finnex 500 titanium heater/contoller and set to 78.

Added two Radion G5 XR 15 "Blue" lights (currently off)

Added two Vortec MP40 wave pumps to the back wall of tank.

Added Red Sea Coral Pro salt to 1.025.

Added 80 lbs Carribsea Life Rock

Added (2) 20 lb bags of Caribsea Live Sand, 1 Fiji Pink and 1 Reef Sand. (Oops I didn't read the labels carefully, but looks kinda cool when mixed). Hopefully this will clear up in a few days!

Curious how you like this heater as I still need to decide on one for my 110.4 build?

Curious how your tang has been doing? I keep reading conflicting reports on certain tangs in a 80g tank. Would love to hear your thoughts. I definitely want a tang in my 110.4 but its just a matter of which one. Thanks in advance!
