Clownfish have been in the tank for 2 weeks. They were both eating well and acting normal.

Tank is a 2 month old waterbox 20 cube. They came with a small RBTA. I do have a clean up crew consisting of hermits and snails. There are no other fish in this tank. I do have xenia, clove polyps, duncan and gsp.

Ammonia is 0, nitrite, 0, Nitrate 10. Temp is 78.6 salinity is 1.025. Water change done last Tuesday and today would normally be water change day.

The only thing I did yesterday was blow off some ugly algae on my rock. I should have waited till water change day.

My black and white storm will alternate from swimming to laying in the sand. I just noticed her sliding her face against the sand.

Are they still eating today?

In the video, it is breathing fast, does that tank have good aeration?

They both ate this morning. The black storm came up to eat and then went back to the bottom of the tank. She(assumption since he/she is only about 10 to 11 months old) goes back and forth from swimming to lying down in her spot. I'm setting up a qt tank but not sure what to treat her with.

The tank had a turn over of 265gph, but I turned it down to 200gph since it looked like they were having trouble swimming. I started a bubbler in the tank this morning too. I assume they had good air flow, but maybe the algae caused an issue last night?

These 2 videos were taken a few minutes apart.

Also do fish get constipated? She just pooped and she is back to normal. Everyday my pair poop a lot of brown balls. She pooped out a giant brown ball and then swam off to find more food. I don't know what to say.

I lugged out my old biocube tank for qt and was in the process of sterilizing everything as well as making more rodi water. I also ordered a ton of meds from several stores and had it delivered by uber. I'm so glad she's acting more normal but I just had a mini heart attack.

Fish can develop blockages. Here is some text I've been working on this week:

1) Overfeeding. Some fish will gorge on food, causing a temporary distended abdomen. If the food being fed is flake or freeze dried food, the added air in the diet can cause to struggle to stay down in the water column. This can be seen where the fish bobs, swimming head-down trying to maintain their position in the water column. The way to rule this issue out is to not feed the fish for 24 to 36 hours. If the swelling reduces over that time, this was probably the cause. This is most commonly seen with swelling in the anterior portion of the abdomen, as that is where the fish’s stomach is. The swelling is bilaterally symmetrical and of sudden onset. If the fish is fasted for 24 hours and the symptoms resolves, that diagnoses it as overfeeding as opposed to the next issue.

2) Intestinal blockage. Related to above, in this case, there is a blockage somewhere in the fish’s digestive tract. This can be caused by the fish ingesting some food item that is too large, or by the fish swallowing some indigestible item such as sand or gravel. The swelling can range from mid-abdomen to the posterior, depending on where the blockage occurred. Often the swelling is bilaterally symmetrical, but can sometimes be more visible on one side than the other. Often called “constipation”, there are many “home remedies”. The two most common are; Epsom salts in the water and feeding the fish peas. Both of these are old freshwater remedies developed for fancy goldfish and do not apply to all fish, especially marine species.
