I am not the best picture taker so don't laugh!!;)
Wow, they're really pretty. Have they maintained color for you after collection? How big do they get? I'm about to go do some reading on them.

Not much info on them... The first picture is one in my tank. They do lose a little color but not much. They don't have any fluorescents and look best in day light spectrum. They only get about three inches max and eat like pigs!!

Can you post a pic of maybe let me see the system sometime?
I just have a bunch of Endler guppies my mom doesn't want anymore. A friend took most, but there are still a few in the tank. They breed easily too.

I don't know if I'm ready lol. What should I bring? I've got buckets and nets. I don't have a battery operated bubbler. I've been meaning to get one. Oh how long will we be out there? I may pick up Tri from City Pets and bring him along.

I will try and post picture soon... you are more than welcome to come take a look, but it is not the prettiest thing in the world right now. I am working on the power of an algae scrubber and have shut mine down/or reduced the algae production for a few months now. I will be putting it back on line in the next few weeks to start documenting.

As for how long we will be out there is up to you I usually stay a couple hours just to do a consensus on the critters, but as for collecting you could be filled up and ready to go in as little a five mins.

Thanks for all the info. I'd love to come take a look and pick your brain in the next few weeks. I'm about a month we'll start doing the main tank setup steps and seeing your system might give us some new ideas. Actual which do you think is better, algae scrubber or a reactor?

My system is not like anyone's you will see.... probably ever it is nothing spectacular, i just try and replicate the ocean!! We will be closing on this house soon(fingers crossed then it's on) I will be setting up some more stuff on the outside To try and save on cost but we will see. I have limited time to chat, but you are more than welcome to stop by with enough prior notice.

If you want to pick my brain just ask I have no secrets!!

As for the algae scrubber or reactor what are you looking for in your system?Reactor are you talking like a biopellet reactor? I always build my own equipment!!

Like a chaeto reactor. I personally really like algae and seagrasses. For years I had my tank in a great balance despite no fancy equipment. Honestly I think my downfall was that I forgot your supposed to regularly switch out the lights.

No fancy equipment needed!! I have a series of different ecosystems to do what I want. I just within the last year or so put a skimmer online and am still not convinced I like it.

The cheato reactor is a decent choice along with the ats. My only thing is with an ats you are growing more than one type of algae or let me rephrase that I grow more than one type so in return it feeds differant micro and macro fauna. Sure you could do the samething in a reactor... It all depends on what you are looking for micro fauna, nutrient export, etc

Because when the tide comes in it will be high and the wind will blow in more sargasm?

No the sargassum comes from the Caribbean kind of... The gulf stream comes through the Caribbean and then up the floridia coast. Well every now and then we get a eddy that spins off of the gulf stream and heads towards us. So on the off chance we get one of those eddies or a hurricane goes through that region we get sargassum. There is a place called the sargasso sea that most of it orginates. Hope that helps!!

That's was very helpful. Suddenly I'm hoping for a small hurricane to stir up the Gulf, so I can see what the beaches look like after.

Yay for being able to cherry pick the best stuff;Happy in especially excited about the anemones.
