Copper Power at 2.0 or 2.5?

Are we supposed to be at 2.0 or 2.5 for Copper Power. Various threads say different things. Thanks!

It depends on the conditions in your tank. If there is no acute disease, and you are just quarantining the fish, then you should target 2.0 ppm. If you have a moderate to severe infection, then you need to get it under control ASAP, so target 2.5 until the condition reduces, then back it off to 2.0.

Of course, this all is dependent on the brand of copper test that you are using and how adept you are at reading. If you shoot for 2.5 with say, the API kit and you aren't used to it, you might overshoot and that would be dangerous to the fish. If you are using the Hanna high range checker, then you would be more comfortable with the test results...

API was terrible. Seachem was better but still unclear. I invested in the Hanna as well this time around for my quarantine tank.

I’m glad you brought up this question. I was going to add copper to my quarantine today and had the same question. I’ll do 2.0 as well.
