I planning to introduce 1 coral banded shrimp in my 20G reef tank. Softies and LPS only tank with 2 clowns and 1 orchid dottyback fish. (Currently tank is very peaceful)

1. Are they reef safe and peaceful?
2. I already have 1 cleaner shrimp and 1 Blood red fire shrimp and 3 sexy shrimps is it OK to introduce coral banded shrimp? or she might harass my sexy or other shrimps or corals?
3. In any way can i go wrong with coral banded shrimp?

My tank link as below

Coral banded shrimp can be aggressive especially with other shrimp. IMO your sexy shrimp would be in danger of being eaten not just harassed. If you really like them check out the blue ones. Different species that's about half as big so much less likely to be a problem.

Yes those are the ones. Much more timid IME and they top out around 1.5 inches instead of 3. They are still a boxer style shrimp so I wouldn't consider them completely harmless to smaller shrimp like sexy but much safer I think.

I have a coral banded shrimp and it does,nt bother any corals besides walking on them! I think your sexy shrimp would become a expensive meal for it,fire shrimp might be to big for coral banded to mess with. My coral beauty tried messing with him one time, learned her lesson.People will ask what does he eat,my reply what does,nt he eat!!

I just snapped a couple of pics of my Gold Coral Banded Shrimp.

The Gold Coral Banded Shrimp which doesn't bother 2 Skunks and a Peppermint. It does, however, have a cleaning relationship with my Diamond Goby. It's funny to see it partially inside the Diamonds mouth from time to time. :)

Actually 4 but they are decapods, not a true shrimp as we generally think to be. You have the Regular (Stenopus hispidus), Yellow (Steponus cyanoscelis), Blue (Steponus tenuirostris), & Gold (Steponus zanzibaricus). ***Spelling might not be spot on...argh***

They are somewhat territorial and can kill and eat shrimp.

They can be kept with fishes and some will even clean fishes as the one I have tries to do. lol.

They can be kept with corals and other inverts. But they can and sometimes will pinch/tear up corals as well as anemones.

Some say they are reef safe but they are not really considered a good choice for any mixed or reef tanks. I recommend caution and observation as I have seen one of my old ones tear a skunk cleaner shrimp apart and eat it.

Don't ever keep two in a tank unless you bought a mated pair. The female will usually be the larger one.

With this said, I guess I lucked out with the one I have presently.

Hope this helped.
