Hello fellow reefers,
Need guidance regarding how to treat my Coral beauty with copper power.
I have had this coral beauty in my QT for 2 weeks now. It is showing white spots on its body and tail. Colors are still bright and clear with no hazyness or mucus like coat on it. I observe her closely daily and there were no spots yesterday.

I have read that angels generally don't react well to copper. I would have started treating it earlier but copper power got delivered yesterday (not readily available in AU) and I was still getting CB to eat readily.
It only eats AF pallets but enthusiastically and pecks on pvc pipe/rocks/tank walls all day long. Very active and no signs of stress. It quickly comes to the front of the tank as soon as it sees me n wait for me to drop pellets. No fast breathing. Clamped fins or odd colored patches.

Since it already has spots I think I will need to raise copper level relatively quickly. I was thinking of adding 1-2ml of copper power in 1liter QT water and slowly drip it in over a couple of hours while observing the fish.
If someone has any experience please do share.
some parameters.
Ammonia-0
Nitrites-0
Nitrates 10-20ppm.
Proper aeration with air stone.
Temp maintained- around 75.2 F
salinity 1.024-.025

can't get clear pics. will upload asap.

Not sure if ich or velvet but using Copper Power need to get to 2.5. Supposedly can do this over 48 hours or less, someone else chime in, since old thinking of raising over several days has supposedly been proven wrong when you use something like Copper Power rather than Cupramine.

you will need a Hanna checker to actually get an accurate measurement. An API copper test does NOT work.

my api test kit was measuring around 1 even though I almost doubled the dose on the copper power bottle and when I finally checked with Hanna, it was 2.84.

might as well invest in the Hanna

That is almost assuredly Cryptocaryon, the spots on the clear portions of the fins are diagnostic for that. Unless you see rapid breathing and swimming into currents, it isn't velvet.

Thanks for replying. I started copper power on 1st Feb. Posted this thread to understand if need to up the concentration in 48hrs or slowly over time.
The fish is doing ok in QT.

Thanks for replying Jay. the CB took the copper treatment like a champ. Kept eating and swimming properly.
I see it rubbing itself on the heater every now and then but the spots went away on 4th day of reaching therapeutic level. I will keep her in copper till 4 weeks are over. Then observe another week in a new QT tank without copper.
