Coral Growth for Fluval Sea Marine 3.0 LED 22 Watts, 15-24 Inches, Fluval EVO 13.5

Greetings ... I'd like to update the lighting on my Fluval EVO 13.5 as the stock like is not adjustable and does not provide great growth for corals. I'm aware that a hang over light such as an AI Prime would be optimal but I'm trying to retain the factory hood for the slim look, don't want the light spill over and to conserve evaporation.

Does anyone have experience using this light on a Eco 13.5 to grow zoas, softies, LPS and maybe simple SPS?

I think your best bet would be to add some DIY leds or maybe some premade strips to the existing lighting in the lid.

Here you go. The second one down is my post about this light for my Fluval Evo 13.5. The "new light" is the Fluval Sea Marine 3.0 LED. Things are growing great now.

For almost 2 years I have two Fluval marine 3.0 bars above my 200 liters tank. I'm also getting low PAR readings, everything raming up to 100% except the whites only 20% and reds at 5%. But I can grow everything (Acro's, Monitpora, RBTA etc...) This light is very underrated in my opinion and I really love them.

PAR is around 200 at the top of the rocks and 50-100 on the sandbed.

The spread of the light is far better than the spot reeflights and there are no really dark spots. Corals are very adaptive to light if you give it the time and let them adjust.

I get a lot of compliments from follow reefers about the color and fluorescense of these lights.

Yes, from thin plywood. I put a few coats of epoxy on the inside to make it waterproof. It prevents evaporation also like I had with the Evo. The sides have hinges to open it. I missed that on the Evo. ;-)
