Possibly an acan bowerbanki? Those can get pretty thick and they do look very much like a fleshy, puffed-up lord. They can have interesting color patterns, though I've not seen one with the striping that you have on yours.

Here's another picture from the side to show how the flesh seems to be more prominent than an acan. I will have to wait until later or in the morning for it to open its tentacles.

Maybe goniastrea? I had one once that didn't seem interested in adding new heads and just kept getting bigger. Goniastrea have that same kind of 'ridged' appearance that yours seems to have.

So, I came across some "neon green platygyra" and feel like these are the most similar to what my coral looks like. This is obviously not my photo, but was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this? The coloration looks the most similar to mine that I can find, but still not sure.

I may be wrong but am fairly certain that is not platygyra. Personally the more i see it the more convinced I am it is a button scoly.

That's awesome. I looked it up, and it sure does look like that! I searched everywhere for the last month and couldn't find anything similar to the Mayan Sun Coral. Thanks. I really think this is the answer.

One of these days,I'm going to pick one up. Favia's and platygyra maze brains are my favorites. They come in a rainbow of different colors and patterns.Your's looks good and healthy. They are a slower grower, but feeding them helps.

It is really unique. That's why I bought it. Although wasn't quite sure what it was.

Platygyra is a 'maze brain,' so that doesn't look right. About how big is it?

Since I said I would get some photos with the feeder tentacles, here they are.. This is a terrible color picture because it was dark in the room, so I just turned on the room light to take the picture. As soon as I turned on the blue light to try to get a picture, it started closing.

The one polyp is about 2.5-3cm (around 1.5 inches). The edges of it are fleshy and do not grow down towards the frag plug like other acans and favias that I have.

My guess is still Lobo or Acan Maxima.

Usually size isn't the best tool to use for taxonomy. But, a 1 1/2" polyp would rule out Favia/Favites/Goniastrea or Acan echinata and some others.

The good news is that care for all brain-like LPS is basically the same.

Its a favia, the mayan sun variety.
Lobo is easily ruled out because they'll usually have a "spikier" structure below the flesh than a favia would(they also do not come in this coloration in the 10 yrs of wholesale exp I've had)
Acan maxima are generally never this small either but leaving that behind, also do not come in this pattern

Lots of favia/goniastrea will extend quite a bit under the correct parameters. If very "happy" they can get pretty huge. Not so much favites though
